Starting with the January issue, BES has a new cover image showing Angolan giraffes. King (in the middle), an adult male desert-dwelling Angolan giraffe, joins a group of females and calves in the Hoarusib River valley in the northern Namib Desert, Namibia. A seasonal reduction in sexual segregation in this population may help to explain an adaptive seasonal birth pulse. Photo credit: Andreas Fernbrant
